Nea Smyrni’s Central Square


This is without any doubt one of the biggest and best squares of the city. .

Located at the Southern suburb of Nea Smyrni it is extremely fast and easy to come here by the tram line you can catch at the Syntagma square (the Station is PLATEIA)

Practicaly you can spend here all day. . Starting at the morning with a sandwich or a cheese-pie that you can take from the bakeries, or sit at one of the countless cafes near the fountains.

Then you can shop  at one of the shops just near the cafes, or at the roads around the square, such as the Omirou street. Then after strolling around with the locals you can eat here Souvlaki,pizza or other fast food and finish with pastries at one of the Ice cream shops or pastries shops.

The nights, especially the summer, find the square beautifully lit, especially around the fountains, and surrounding residents to stroll loose or sit in one of the terraces to enjoy a crepe or a skewer, by George who for thirty years remains perhaps the most central hangout.
