The announcement of the appearance of “The Cure” at the EJEKT Festival 2019 has caused enthusiasm to the audience! July 17 has became the top date of this year’s summer music, and four more names are added to the 15-year anniversary celebration of the country’s top music festival: Super Michael Kiwanuka, legendary The Ride, the most “cool band out there at the moment “Khruangbin and the rising The Steams.
With songs such as “Cold Little Heart”, “Love & Hate”, “Home Again”, “Black Man in a White World” and “One More Night”, he has justly won the reputation of his top British soul / folk performer this decade. Besides, with his warm voice and throwback production of his albums, Michael Kiwanuka really sounds like one of the “quirks” of black 70s music. His relationship with the Greek is already given, as he is one of the most beloved artists of good Greek radio.
“Leave Them All Behind”, “Vapour Trails”, “Twisterella”: 26 years after their legendary appearances in Rodon, the legendary Ride returns to Greece! One of Britain’s leading bands, Andy Bell’s quartet, Mark Gardener, Laurence Colbert, and Steve Queralt have made their first two albums a reference point for the entire 90s music genre. “Nowhere” and “Going Back Again” are now considered classic albums that set shoegaze and opened the way for indie rock. Their reunion and their two-year studio album “Weather Diaries” have been joyful gospels for their fans and finally it’s time to see them on stage at the EJEKT Festival.
One of the hottest names of the past 5 years, Khruangbin actually started their career when Bonobo put a song on his Late Night Tales. With their debut “The Universe Smiles Upon You”, they gave us one of the most remarkable 2015 albums and managed to make the audience look for what is thai funk! Last year’s second album, “Con Todo El Mundo”, their soulful, funk and psychedelic sound has become even more “Tarantine”! Their appearance at EJEKT Festival will be their first in Greece.
With their appearance as an opening act by Peter Murphy last December, The Steams confirmed their reputation as an excellent psych rock band that we had from their debut album ‘Wild Ferment’.
